High Quality Video from Advanced Technology

The POV.1 is the first V.I.O. product to use a new, advanced CMOS video sensor with a global electronic shutter. While the CMOS sensor offers the improved light handling capabilities of a higher, broader dynamic range, it also demands less power. As a result, the POV.1 can record hours of video on four AA batteries. Users can select from six resolutions ranging from 720×480 to 320×420 and frame rates of 30, 25, 24, or 15 fps. Built Rugged.

Driving rain will not affect the POV.1. Nor will immersion in water of up to one-meter depth. The system is also dustproof and shock-resistant. It is designed to survive falling from a desktop to the floor. A key contributor to the shock resistance is the use of flash memory for recording. The POV.1 uses SD cards up to 2GB, allowing the recording of about 80 minutes of high quality video on a single card. Operational temperature range for the recorder is from freezing to over 150° F. The camera head can withstand down to -40°F and up to 185°F. In either baking heat or freezing cold, users will appreciate the system’s simple controls.

Intuitive user Interface and the Power of Loop Mode Recording

When recording POV video, simplicity and ease of use become paramount concerns. A few intuitive buttons on the recorder and on the wireless remote control the POV.1. But it’s what those buttons do that make the POV.1 shine. During normal recording, users can press the “tag” button to mark important sections for easy retrieval. The tags make it easy to locate key highlights and edit out non-essential or less entertaining material. Tagged sections also are protected against overwriting when using Loop Mode recording. Loop Mode captures video without saving it until the tag button it pressed. It then saves a user-adjustable length of video up to 30 minutes before and up to the tag point, allowing you to save what you just saw, after you saw it. Loop Mode recording helps maximize the capacity of SD cards while preventing the loss of important material.

Video yield rates per GB are listed below. If you are using a 2GB card, simply double the times.

• highest settings (720x480, 30fps, high quality) yields 43 minutes
• default settings (640x480, 30fps, high quality) yields 48 minutes
• lowest settings (320x240, 15fps, low quality)yields 472 minutes (7.8 hours)

 

Currently the POV.1 is limited to a 2GB size. VIO are working towards expanding these capabilities. Also, when using the POV.1 in LOOP mode, you can get a day's worth of shots on one card.

 

 

It is important for all customers, including commercial & tactical, to be able to power this device anywhere around the world at anytime. Different types of AA batteries can be used including:

Lithium Ion for longer use time
Rechargeable for an environmentally friendly solution

 

 

How long will the batteries last for?

Battery time is dependent on several key factors, including internal settings and external environment. Standard alkalines should last about 4-5 hours and the Energizer(tm) Lithium Ion will last approx.
10 hours.

 

 

The remote control is designed for close range use, such as, remote on s handlebar or wrist and recorder in pack or on belt. If you want to stretch it to its limits, it will work to about 15 feet away.

 

 

The TAG feature of the POV.1 is used to highlight certain important points in your video when using our POV Manager software.

 

 

Recording in LOOP mode allows you to save captured video of events after they have happened. When in LOOP mode, POV.1 keeps a video clip in memory (length of clip is set in the settings menu) and will write the clip only if the user requests by pressing the "TAG" button. If the "TAG" button is not pressed, the file will not be saved.

 

Although an all-in-one concept is compelling, VIO's research has shown that its industrial design limits features and functionality and are heavier on your head than a tethered system provides.

 

 

Yes - one of the nice features of the POV.1 is its ability to upgrade firmware. This means VIO's customers will have access to new features as soon as they become available.

 

 

VIO created the POV.1 with flexibility in mind and new heads and mounts (and other accessories) for specific purposes will be available soon to optimize your experience.

 

 

Not yet - the first head is optimized for wearable functionality, especially when you are moving. VIO will continue to explore different ways to add flexibility in FOV options.

Not quite what we would call DVD quality. Maximum resolution is 720 x 480 @ 3mb/s.
A DVD in the UK should display 720 x 576 @ around 4 - 6 mb/s.

 

 

No - the camera head is digitally optimized to work with the POV recording device.

 

 

Install the version of the POV Manager from your CD and launch the software. If a new version is available, you will be prompted to download and install it.

No. This is a complimentary feature built into our POV Manager software.

 

 

When you choose to distribute your video via our POV Manager software, it is exclusive to those who receive your email. However, your clip may get forwarded to another party. If you have an incredibly compelling clip you want to share with everyone, check the "Add to V.I.O. Gallery" box, we’ll review it and perhaps post it to our site. The POV Manager also makes it easy to post to your favorite Internet site, making the world your audience.

 

 

Once shared, video cannot be deleted from the server unless it is automatically deleted by V.I.O.

 

 

Video links will be active for a minimum of 30 days, although V.I.O. presently have no plans to remove video from the server.
